Scan a meal
Take a photo of a meal, a barcode, or a nutrition label, and Fit Shapes logs it.
- On Today, tap the scan button (Scan food) in the dock, next to the search field.
- Point the camera at your meal, a barcode, or a nutrition label.
- Tap the shutter.
For a meal photo, the camera closes and a new row shows in your log. The row shows Analyzing your photo…, then Saving your food…, and then the food. You do not need to confirm it. To change the result, tap the row, then tap Edit.
A barcode looks up the product instead.
Photos from your library
In the camera, tap Photos to scan a photo you took before.
If a scan fails
The row shows what went wrong and a Retry button. To remove the row, swipe it left and tap Delete.
You can have up to five scans in progress at the same time. If all five are still saving, the camera shows Still saving your last scans — try in a moment.
Daily scan limit reached
Scans and descriptions use AI, and each account can make 30 a day. Scans that fail also count. When you reach the limit, you can still search for foods and log them. The count starts again at midnight UTC.
Where your photos go
Your photos stay on your iPhone. Fit Shapes deletes them after 30 days.
